BAĞDAM
Current Methods in Psychology Research: Experience Sampling Methodology Academic Reading Group

Many studies in the field of psychology and psychiatry are predominantly conducted using traditional research methodologies such as self-report measures. The use of these methods is susceptible to recall bias and lacks real-time understanding of experiences in everyday life. Therefore, there is a need for new methods that use real-time measurements to understand psychological processes. The Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM) is a structured, intensive data collection technique that aims to assess internal experiences such as emotions, thoughts, physical symptoms, symptoms and contextual factors that people experience in their daily lives and requires participants to report their current experiences at certain times.

The aim of the winter school prepared in this direction is to gain knowledge about current studies in this field in order to understand how the Experience Sampling Method, which broadens the perspective in understanding human behavior, is used in both measurement and intervention in the field of psychology/psychiatry.
