PREVENTION AND ASSISTANCE PROJECT FOR SUICIDE AND RELATED PROBLEMS

11 February 2023

Every year, 108 million people in the world who attempt and commit suicide, together with their families and people around them, are deeply affected by suicidal behavior and this effect lasts for many years.
As the Cansağlığı Foundation Center for Contextual Behavioral Science, we aim to address suicide in all its aspects in order to raise awareness about suicide, which affects a significant part of the society and is difficult to talk about, and to support people who are hurt on this issue, within the scope of the 'Prevention and Assistance for Suicide and Related Problems Project'.
In this context, we aim to prevent suicide, treat suicide and related problems, and develop programs for those affected by suicide. While developing these programs, we care about making them scientific, inclusive and accessible.
Our first project is to create a self-help website, which we hope will facilitate access to up-to-date and accurate information on suicide-related issues and that people with or near suicidal thoughts will benefit. The website, which is currently under preparation; It includes what should be known correctly about suicide, methods that can create a roadmap for people with suicidal ideation or a relative with suicidal ideation, and help options for people who have lost a loved one as a result of suicide to cope with the pain they experience more effectively.
Within the scope of the Prevention and Assistance for Suicide and Related Problems Project, it is among our goals to develop algorithms that will help us identify suicide risk factors in detail, to develop preventive interventions for suicide, and to carry out studies to increase the psychological skills of young people in risk groups within the scope of preventive mental health.
